March 25 Soup-run in Higashi-Matsushima City

On the 23rd of March, a soup-run service took place near a Christian church in Higashi-Matsushima City.

Hot soup rich in vegetables was served to some 160 people in the vicinity. Since the earthquakes and Tsunami waves caused the suspension of essential utility supplies and commodity distribution, people have been faced with food shortages and unbalanced diet. Hot meals having been less commonly available, the handmade vegetable soup was very much appreciated.

When volunteers were ready to leave after the soup-run and cleanup, a disaster-victim came back to hand them some food saying "this is all I have to express my gratitude." Touched by her caring attitude shown even in the midst of suffering, all the volunteers were filled with warm feelings.
