[Pakistan] Job training and independence support program for unemployed women
In November 2012, JIFH started self-reliance support program in ShahWalla Village, Multan, in Punjab province. This is an education- based program which helps people identify problems in their daily life and solve the problem by themselves.

Three days of monsoon rains caused flooding in nine provinces in the Philippines. The flooding forced approximately 250,000 people from their homes. Many of Food for the Hungry's communities located near fast-moving, overflowing rivers have evacuated.

March 25 Relief supplies arrived from Yao City, and handed to the quake-victims

In the late afternoon of 24th of March, upon arrival of relief supplies from Yao City, JIFH staff members and volunteers unloaded the truck and opened the boxes in a warehouse, which JIFH rents in Sendai City.

March 23 Base-camp moved to Aoba-ward in Sendai City
Meisen kindergarten reopening tomorrow (March 24) to resume pre-schooling, JIFH will relocate its base-camp(s) today to 2 separate places in Sendai City: YWCA Sendai and Sendai Church of the Korean Christian Church in Japan, both located in Aoba-ward.

March 23 Evacuees encouraged with oven-fresh bread and canned soft bread

In the afternoon of March 22, Mr. Yoshihiko Akimoto, the president of Pan Akimoto Co., Ltd, arrived at JIFH base-camp in Sendai City in his van, filled with oven-fresh bread for 2000 people and several hundred portions of their Kyu-Can-Cho brand canned soft bread.

March 22 Vegetables for soup-run come from Miyazaki prefecture
Planning to conduct soup-run service in Sendai City, Japan International Food for the Hungry has decided to procure ingredients,such as vegetables, rice and miso (fermented soybean) paste, from eruption-stricken farmers in Miyazaki prefecture. A Kobe-based non-profit organization will coordinate the procurement.

Airlift of 100 tons of materials from Samaritan's Purse in US.
Samaritan's Purse, a large-scale relief international relief organization from USA has arrived in the base in Sendai and we brought cup noodles, water, tea, toilet paper, and sanitary products as the first critical material to a junior-high school which is one of the safe shelters in Tagajo-city.

Devastated situation at the port of Miyagino-ward, Sendai-city
Afternoon in March 15, 2011, Mr. Seike, Managing Director and Sin Okchul a staff of JIFH visited the port of Miyagino-ward, Sendai-city and saied, "I was so astonished to face this total defeated situation by Tsunami, this was much worse than the scenes I knew through TV. How powerful and awful the Tsunami was!"

He said, "people at the places are very in need of food, water, blankets, cloths and all other things. And gasoline has been greatly needed at the local places, the local people are having a hard time not to be able to get food, and to visit how their relatives are who lives in not near places without transportations "
