Nepal Disaster Relief Update
May 15, 2015
Report from Mr. Tomoki Yoshida in Nepal.
Tomoki Yoshida, a staff member of JIFH who is in Nepal to engage in relief work for the recent disaster of an earthquake, has reported the on-site situation:
I am currently working with the Korea Food for the Hungry rescue team in the distribution of medical supplies and emergency relief goods. I am also collecting information about damage situation and the areas in need of aid delivery. While researching the situation in Kathmandu, I was also able to gather information about the current needs in the mountain area by visiting a refugee camp of about four hundred people who had been evacuated from there. In addition, I joined the local aid activity sponsored by Gospel For Asia (GFA) and delivered rice and other food items to refugee camps. The leader of the village said, "Your support makes us survive for some time."
A collapsed apartment building in KTM
A hospital destroyed by the strong aftershock on May 12th ( in KTM)
A collapsed church from the initial earthquake on April 25th.
Approximately 100 people who had attended the Saturday meeting were killed.
I visited the refugee camp of people evacuated form the mountain area. Both children and adults requested clothes.
I joined the local aid delivery by GFA.
Please extend a helping hand for disaster-stricken Nepalese.
