March 25 volunteers appreciated not only in Sendai
Report from Osaka
More than a dozen volunteers ranging from teens to seniors in their eighties helped with shipping at the JIFH Osaka head office today (March 25).
Having sent a number of staff members to the disaster-hit areas for emergency relief, staff members of Osaka head office have been tied up with increased work such as procurement of relief supplies, close communication with overseas partner-organizations, support for the staff members in the disaster-hit areas, publication and continuous updates of our website. In such a hectic situation, volunteers play important roles not only in the quake-hit areas but also in other parts of Japan.
JIFH relief efforts have been supported by a large number of people who contribute their time and money. A group of JIFH supporters in Yao City fetched 160 gas cartridges for portable cooking stoves, which had been less commonly available even in the Kansai region.
JIFH is now raising funds for the disaster-hit areas. .
